The National Electric Code (NEC) requires that for electrical and structural safety all electrical signs be "listed" (tested and labeled.)

ALL cities, and the State of Texas, adopt the National Electric Code as part of their laws.

Underwriter's Laboratory is the premier, virtually the only, national listing organization and almost EVERYTHING electrical is tested by them.

Whether it's channel letters, a wall cabinet sign, a monument sign, pole or pylon signs, electronic message centers, neon or other electric signs Underwriter’s Laboratory poses the toughest design, structural, electrical, and installation standards of any testing company on the products they approve.

If the sign you are purchasing does not have a UL Label the sign is probably not legal to install in Texas.  There are a few local city ordinance exceptions.

It is NOT illegal in Texas to sell non-listed electrical signs, only to install them!

There are 126 sign companies in Texas listed by U.L.  There are 1915 sign companies world-wide.

Our signs are U. L. Listed.  (File #UXYT.E149959)  To see if a manufacturer is a UL listed sign manufacturer go to http://database.ul.com/cgi-bin/XYV/template/LISEXT/1FRAME/ccnsrch.html and enter "UXYT" in the "UL Category Code" (%ccn%) box.  There are many sign companies that pretend to be!

While Underwriter's Laboratory and other listing companies test and approve mechanical, electrical, and installation aspects of sign manufacturing, only the Electric Sign Authority (ESA) supervises the design, marketing appeal, appearance, and longevity of signage.

Look for the Electric Signs Authority (ESA) Listing Label (right) in the advertising of Sign Companies committed to providing their customers with a better advertising and marketing product that will look good for years.

It is a criminal offense in Texas for a unlicensed individual to design an electrical sign, or an electrical system.  A licensed Master Sign Electrician or Master Electrician is required, or a design company approved by statute, regardless of whether the signage was manufactured within or outside of Texas.  We have both Masters design our signs.  Our State of Texas Electrical and Sign Master License numbers are:  00002753 and 00007305.

It is also an offense to subcontract the design work to an unlicensed person, firm or corporation.

 It is also illegal in Texas to fool consumers by pretending to be an electrician that can install and service electrical signs, even if they then hire licensed electricians to do the work.

We employ Certified Welders; horizontal, vertical, and overhead.

We are virtually the only sign company in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex employing certified welders.

In a study of 10 year old local Dallas/Ft. Worth businesses, it was observed that a significantly larger number of businesses who had their signs manufactured by Signs Manufacturing were still in business (compared to businesses served by other sign manufacturers identified during the study.)
